Dan Harkless' "Lame-o French Art"

cheesy French-restaurant-logo-esque cartoon face

Date:

March 21, 1994

Tool:

Digital Equipment Corporation dxpaint on a DECstation 5000/240 running ULTRIX 4.2

Info:

For ICS 125b, my software engineering project class during my senior year at UCI, my team took an existing GIF-viewer, "xgif", and integrated it with "Chimera", a (now laughably) proprietary Hypertext system developed at UCI. At one point we needed a 4-color GIF for testing purposes, so I cranked out this silly little doodle using ULTRIX's built-in paint tool. I didn't delete it when the project was over, however, because I felt it had a certain goofy charm. It reminded me of those cheesy, intentionally-sloppy logos and designs you see at American French restaurants like Mimi's Cafe.
