This attraction was new for 2007, replacing Cavern of Lost Souls. Well, sort of. Cavern of Lost Souls actually kind of morphed into Black Widow's Cavern. In 2006 Lost Souls lost its lost souls: the ghosts flying up the walls in the main cavern were replaced by the (great) giant mechanical spider. Most of the other spider elements originated with Lost Souls as well. Black Widow mostly just added some more (e.g. the fluorescent spiders in the stalagmite / stalactite room) and changed the costumes on some of the human scarers. I think the focusing of the theme is probably a good thing, and this remains one of my favorite attractions at the Haunt.
