Zoom Out

In Ôsaka (in Tanimachi 9-chome, in case you're keeping track) there's an interesting restaurant with eclectic middle-eastern fare with the unlikely name Kanadean (Canadian). Apparently under the former management the restaurant really did serve Canadian food (what a shock that didn't last :-)), but when they changed over, everyone wanted to keep the old name. Another funny thing about the name is that it's spelled using kanji phonetically (as in Chinese), rather than using katakana, the norm for foreign words in Japan. One reason J.P. and I went here is that Yoshikawa, formerly of Japanese noise band extraordinaire The Boredoms worked here.

We thought we'd missed him this time, but when we were leaving after eating, who did we find manning the gift shop upstairs than the man himself? Unfortunately he blinked when I snapped this shot — d'oh! Luckily he graciously let me take another.
