Zoom Out

In Gifu Prefecture (North of Nagoya), in Yoro Park, there's a bizarre sub-park called The Site Of Reversible Destiny. The park was designed by modern artists Arakawa Shusaku and Madeline Gins. It includes such structures as the Gate of Non-Dying, the Zone of the Clearest Confusion, the Mono no Aware Transformer, the Imaging Navel, and the structure Jean-Paul's standing in front of here, the Trajectory Membrane Gate.

The visitor's guide pamphlet includes Directions for Use that are as wacky as the names for the areas of the park. For example:

  • If thrown off-balance when entering the house, call out your name, or if you prefer, someone else's.
  • If accidentally thrown completely off-balance, try to note the number, and also the type and placement, of landing sites essential to reconstituting a world.
  • In and about the Kinesthetic Pass, repeat every action two or three times, once in slow motion.
