My teacher's comment:

Nice work Dan,
Narritive [sic] doesn't necessicarily [sic]
convey content, nor does your
concept have to be narrator.
The story seems too closely alined [sic]
related to a bad T.V. show, or a soap.
Susan.

My teacher was never a real big fan of my work. She didn't like it when I tried to be entertaining. No, my concept doesn't "have to be" narrator, but why is it a problem if it is? (And actually, it's not quite "narrator", since the photos are all first-person POV.) Oh well, at least "the people" all got a kick out of it.

EDIT, 2016: I shouldn't be too hard on Susan. Although the lack of any kind of teaching of any kind of artistic technique in any kind of medium was a huge surprise to me in my three quarters of first-year UCI Studio Art, having the opportunity to make art in such a wide range of different media (though I really wish sculpting had been one of them, especially given my interest in DIY special effects makeup), and with such artistic freedom was really cool, and my classmates were some of the coolest people I ever met at UCI (sorry, no offense, Information and Computer Science and other majors — several of you were super-awesome as well). I recently made my first piece of political art since one of the assignments in that Studio Art series, and though Susan would no doubt pooh-pooh my desire to be narrative and entertaining, somehow I think that overall she'd approve of this one:
