This was an extremely hard shot to get. Dr. Friehe is a big teddy bear and
doesn't have a good supply of anger in his soul to call upon for a shot like
this. He kept cracking up.
As I recall, I was shooting one-for-one — each of the 36 photos that
needed to be in the final book came from a single shot on one 36-shot roll of
film. I didn't leave myself time to take millions of coverage shots and pick
the best ones. Therefore I was very glad Dr. Friehe managed to hold a straight
face for a few seconds and that I managed to capture it in this shot. Ah yes,
the good old days before digital cameras when there was no way to know what
you'd gotten until after film processing.
