Dan Harkless' Halloween 1981-1984 Costumes: Convict, etc.

I only own a photo of my costume from one of these years, and I'm not sure which of the years it's from. In any case, I was a convict:

Elements

• homemade striped convict uniform, sewn from a pattern
• scar appliance (and spirit gum, I presume)
• white undershirt
• rubber manacles
• plastic ball & chain
• black dress shoes

Commentary

I'm pretty sure my Mom sewed this for me, based on a pattern -- I'll have to check with her. The pained expression on my face is to "sell" my scar (I guess the old wound still hurts! ). I remember we got the black rubber manacles somewhere in the L.A. area after attending an (acting) interview. I think we might have gotten the fake scar and ball & chain elsewhere, at a local costume shop.

And speaking of checking with my Mom -- I'll have to find out from her which year this is from, and get photos of my other 1981-1984 costumes.
